Exploring the Uffizi

Calder ClassicsComment

The Uffizi gallery, one of the most famous art museums in the world, houses a huge collection of priceless Rennaissance art. The Florence students got to finally see some of the great works by Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Caravaggio.

Many of the works tied into their Latin readings! Below are photos of some of the artworks we discussed: The Battle of San Romano (Paolo Uccello), Primavera (Botticelli), and Bacchus (Caravaggio). In addition, we saw other famous paintings such as the Birth of Venus by Botticelli, and Medusa by Caravaggio. The paintings were absolutely breathtaking, and it was interesting to have the details explained to us to better understand the works.
